Many of the workshops are appropriate for both beginning-level plant enthusiasts and those more advanced, and all are welcome.
Two of the workshops offered this spring are a soil ecology workshop where participants will learn about the importance of soils to healthy ecosystems, on Sat., March 21, and the Name That Wildflower workshop on Sat., March 28. Both of these include fieldtrips into Bidwell Park.
Other workshops include How to Lead a Successful Natural History Field Trip (particularly geared toward teachers) on Sat., April 18, and “Health and Safety in the Field” on Sat., May 9.
One of the fall workshops, Oak Woodland Ecology and Management, will cover native California oaks, on Oct.10.
Registration for these and the other workshops is required. Money raised from the workshop series goes toward the support of the Chico State Herbarium and their educational programs.
Details on the workshops and registration forms can be found at the museum’s Web site at www.ncnhm.org under the educational programs link.
