World AIDS Day Awareness Fair and Vigil

Observation of World AIDS Day in Chico occurs this Wednesday, Dec. 1, with the HIV/AIDS Awareness Fair in the morning and afternoon and a candlelight vigil and reception in the evening. Started in 1988, the worldwide observance aims to raise money and awareness, improve education and diminish prejudice.

Image of red ribbon logoThe awareness fair  will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union Mall Area, California State University Chico. The fair will include a variety of booths, games and valuable information about community programs.

The candlelight vigil and reception, held at the Congregational Church of Chico, will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. The church is located at 1190 East 1st Ave.

In addition to these two events, donations for dry and canned food are being collected for Caring Choices food closet. You can bring your donations to the Congregational Church.

The CSU, Chico Office of Diversity, the Butte County Public Health Department, Caring Choices, the Stonewall Alliance Center, Del Norte Clinics, Inc., the Congregational Church of Chico and ISCCD of Chico are sponsoring World AIDS Day in Chico.
