Forum to Look at Haiti’s Earthquake from Historical Perspective

The International Forum, California State University, Chico, will present “Collapse: Haiti’s Earthquake in Historical Perspective” on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. in Ayres 120.

The panel includes Professor Susan Place, Department of Geography and Planning; Professor Brian Brazeal, Department of Anthropology; and Kristen Mahlis from Multi-Cultural and Gender Studies. Each speaker has extensive experience in Latin America and/or the Caribbean.

The focus of the panel will be on the role that history, poverty and geography have played in the consequences of the Jan. 14 earthquake in Port Au Prince, Haiti.

The International Forum is a weekly program of public lectures. They are held during the semester on Tuesdays, 4-4:50 p.m., in Ayres 120.
