Sorority and Fraternity Sponsor Hoops 4 Haiti Fundraiser

Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Phi Delta Theta fraternity at California State University, Chico are partners in sponsoring a fundraising basketball tournament for victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Hoops 4 Haiti will be held this Thursday, Feb. 11, from 6 pm to 9 pm in Acker Gym.

Hoops 4 Haiti is part of other fundraising events being organized across campus. The proceeds will go to the UNICEF fund for the children affected by the Jan. 14 earthquake in Haiti. The earthquake killed more than 100,000 people and left more than 1 million people homeless. Tens of thousands of children have been left especially vulnerable.

Although the event is primarily student-based, the organizers are open to expanding to other interested groups.

The tournament will be organized with a men’s bracket and a women’s bracket. The cost is $5 per person and $25 for a full team.
