California State University, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education, in partnership with California Transition Alliance, presents the first regional Transition Alliance Conference to promote communities of practice and building quality transition alliances.

The conference will be held Thursday, March 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium on the CSU, Chico campus.

The mission of the California Transition Alliance is “to support transition programs that provide exemplary workforce preparation services that contribute to the successful transition of youth with disabilities to post-secondary education and training, employment and quality adult life.” Through this conference and ongoing legislative and advocacy work, the California Transition Alliance provides resources and information to professionals serving youth with developmental disabilities, and facilitates access to skills training and jobs.

Attendees at the Transition Alliance conference will have the opportunity to hear success stories from youth who have benefitted from transition programs, and participate in breakout sessions focused on topics such as entrepreneurship, preparing for college, youth leadership, assessment and creating a functional community collaborative. In addition, participants will walk away from this conference with an array of tools and resources for transition, as well as new professional contacts.

Participants may also earn one hour of continuing education credit.

The Transition Alliance conference will take walk-in registrations at the door on the morning of the conference, beginning at 8 a.m. Additional information can be found at rce.csuchico.edu/conferences/caTransitionAlliance/.
