CSU, Chico Alumni Once Again Rank High Nationally for Salary Earnings

California State University, Chico has once again been rated highly in a ranking of earnings by alumni of U.S. colleges and universities.

In a study by PayScale.com, which looked at the earnings of college graduates with at least 10 years of work experience, CSU, Chico ranks 27th in the nation in 2009 among all public universities for the median salaries of its graduates.

The mid-career median salary of CSU, Chico’s alumni was $89,300. The starting median salary for CSU, Chico alumni was $47,700.

The top school overall in the country was Dartmouth College, with an alumni mid-career median salary of $129,000. The top state university on the list was UC Berkeley, with a median mid-career salary of $112,000.

Among the well-known public institutions ranked lower than CSU, Chico are University of Wisconsin, University of Arizona and University of Washington.

The other California public universities besides UC Berkeley ranked above CSU, Chico were, in order of their rankings, UC San Diego, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, San Jose State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Cal Poly Pomona.

For 2008, the first year of the alumni earning rankings, CSU, Chico ranked 24th in the United States with a mid-career median salary of alumni at $88,100 and a starting median salary of alumni at $47,400.

PayScale.com, which reports it has the largest database of salary information in the world, used employee surveys to compile its alumni salary rankings.
