California State University, Chico’s School of Nursing is honoring its long-time director, Sherry Fox, with a retirement celebration Friday, April 9.

Events will begin with tours of the school’s Clinical Simulation Center on 560 Cohasset Road at the Enloe Medical Center Cohasset Campus. The tours will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and are free and open to the public. At the simulation center, nurses train on life-like state-of-the-art human patient simulators that can mimic illnesses and medical emergencies.

After the tours, a reception in Fox’s honor will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Albert E. Warrens Reception Center on the CSU, Chico campus. The event is free but RSVP is required by calling 898-5891.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a scholarship fund-raising dinner will be held at the Enloe Conference Center. All proceeds from the dinner will go to the Sherry D. Fox Nursing Scholarship. The dinner is $50 per person and pre-payment and RSVP are required. Those interested can call 898-5891.

Fox has been at CSU, Chico for 30 years and has been the School of Nursing’s director for 20 years. Along with the opening of the simulation center and other technological advances, the School of Nursing has expanded its service to the North State during Fox’s tenure, through programs like the LVN to BSN program and the California Rural Nurse Re-entry Residency program.
