CSU, Chico Reaches $1 Million for St. Jude Hospital

Students and other campus community members will gather Thursday, April 29, to celebrate California State University, Chico raising $1 million on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

CSU, Chico is the four-time collegiate champion in raising money for children’s cancer research and the fastest school to reach $1 million.

The event will take place at 1 p.m. on the Kendall lawn. CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg will be there along with students, faculty and staff involved in St. Jude fundraising and representatives of the Memphis-based hospital.

This year, CSU, Chico has raised $155,460 to date for St. Jude. The annual main fundraising event, Up ‘til Dawn, was held on Nov. 9. CSU, Chico has held Up ‘til Dawn fundraisers since 2001.

Over the past 10 years, CSU, Chico has set collegiate records for dollars raised in one year and number of letters sent out to potential donors. The University was honored last year in Memphis for having the outstanding college fundraising event, overall program and program advisors.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, founded by entertainer Danny Thomas, is committed to treating all children who have cancer and other catastrophic diseases regardless of their economic situation.
