The theme of this year’s Derby Days is “It’s for the Kids.” Teams within Sigma Chi will pair up with teams from several sororities to compete in such events as a burger fundraiser at Madison Bear Garden, a talent show, a field day and a coin collection on campus Tuesday. Approximately $5,000 was raised for the Children’s Miracle Network during the 2009 Derby days.
Derby Days, founded in 1933 at UC Berkeley, has raised more than $2 million nationwide for numerous philanthropic organizations.
Children's Miracle Network is a nonprofit alliance of 170 hospitals throughout the United States and Canada that funds research and provides community outreach for the approximately 17 million children a year with diseases and injuries of every kind, from broken bones to cancer.
For more information on next week’s events, please contact event coordinator Dan Johnstone at 925-324-1436 or djohnstone1@mail.csuchico.edu or chapter president Eric Luna, 925-699-4123 or eluna3@mail.csuchico.edu.
