Interim Dean for College of Business Selected

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Sandra Flake announced today that Mike Ward, dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management (ECC), has been selected as interim dean of the College of Business. Ward will continue in his position as dean of ECC.

Ward is a longtime faculty member who served as department chair in Engineering, associate dean of ECC and interim dean in ECC. He has led the College of ECC as dean for the past three years. He is experienced with accreditation, professional programs, partnerships with industry, fund-raising, grants, contracts and center management.
 
“Dr. Ward has a strong commitment to the values and mission of Chico State,” said Flake. “He will take on the additional role in August, and I am pleased he has accepted these new responsibilities.”
 
In accepting this additional assignment, Dean Ward acknowledged the challenges ahead: “Chico State and the College of Business are facing extraordinary challenges as the state addresses its structural deficits. I look forward to working with the faculty and staff of the college and helping to mentor the next generation of leaders as we move the college forward together.”
 
Ward is filling a vacancy left by former COB dean, Willie Hopkins, who accepted a new position at the City University of New York, Brooklyn College.
