California State University, Chico has been named a top veteran-friendly school by U.S. Veterans Magazine in its 2013 Best-of-the-Best survey. The University is listed in the summer 2013 issue, on newsstands now and online at usveteransmagazine.com.

veterans medallionThe magazine polled hundreds of companies, schools and agencies for its annual evaluations, which review the nation's employers, initiatives, government agencies and educational institutions. Its goal is to improve employment, business and supplier opportunities for veterans, and assist in transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses and veteran business owners into civilian life.

CSU, Chico offers a number of services and resources to assist veterans in achieving their educational goals. The Office of Veterans Affairs is a resource for admissions, financial aid and benefits, and academic advising. The Student Veteran Center on campus offers a unique space for veterans to connect, study and relax. Each year, the University hosts a Veterans Day event honoring local servicemen and servicewomen; a special welcome reception for student veterans is planned Sept. 10.

CSU, Chico joins George Washington University; Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey; and San Diego State University on the veteran-friendly schools list. Besides U.S. Veterans Magazine, G.I. Jobs, Military Times EDGE and Military Advanced Education all named the University to their 2013 lists of schools doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students.
