California State University, Chico’s College of Natural Sciences will host its first alumni reunion Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12.

Held in concert with the University’s fourth annual Chico Experience Week, a campus-community celebration slated for Oct. 4-13, the reunion will bring together graduates new and old, near and far, and from all departments within the college for a weekend of fun and informational events.

Kicking off the reunion will be an all-alumni welcome reception on Friday, Oct. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium. On Saturday, Oct. 12, each department within the college will host events specific to its alumni on campus and around Chico. For a complete list of activities, visit www.tinyurl.com/lg5qfps.

Natural Sciences Dean Fraka Harmsen says the reunion will provide a forum for rekindling old relationships, forming new ones, learning about the College’s recent activities and sharing outstanding work by faculty and students.

“The College of Natural Sciences is excited to host the first-ever alumni reunion,” Harmsen said. “This is an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with the college and Chico State in a number of ways, from staying in touch on events to learning about volunteer and professional opportunities or locating a favorite professor or classmate. The college continues to be a place of great intellectual vitality where students have transformative educational experiences. We look forward to welcoming our alumni back to campus.”

The reunion is an extension of Chico Experience Week, which brings Chico State students, alumni, parents and friends together for 10 days of fun, education and reconnection. Sponsored by the Chico State Alumni Association, the week promises a number of exciting activities including Artoberfest, campus tours, bicycle rides, the 2013 National Yo-Yo Contest, Chico State Family Weekend Barbecue, and the unveiling of the fourth Chico Experience Week print by Jake Early, among many others. Departments included in the College of Natural Sciences and hosting reunion activities are Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geological and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Nursing, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Physics, and Science Education.
