Barbara Fortin is the new vice provost for Enrollment Management at California State University, Chico.

Fortin began her new position on campus Jan. 7. She replaces Meredith Kelley, who retired in December.

Enrollment Management provides services to support student educational goals and to assist the University in fulfilling its mission. Admissions, Academic Advising Programs and University Registrar are among the offices that are part of Enrollment Management.

“Barbara has demonstrated success in leading strategic planning initiatives, technology advances and cross-campus collaboration efforts,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Belle Wei in a message to campus. “I am confident that she will be a valuable member of our campus team and make significant contributions to the University.”

“I am very excited to be serving at Chico State, where student-centered decision-making is at the core of our University and in Enrollment Management,” said Fortin.” I hope to build on the good work already being done in the days ahead.”

Prior to coming to Chico, Fortin was director of Enrollment Operations at Case Western Reserve University. From 2008 to 2011, she was director of the Admissions Office at the University of Utah. She has also served in similar capacities at Cleveland State University and Boise State University.

Fortin earned her bachelor’s degree from Moorhead State University and master’s from Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
