The annual Scholastic Achievement Banquet will honor the 388 residence hall students who earned a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) or higher. Nineteen students earned perfect 4.0 GPAs; 143 students earned between a 3.75 and 3.99; and 226 earned between a 3.5 and 3.7499. Together, these students represent the top 19 percent of about 2,100 students living in CSU, Chico’s residence halls.
UHFS Director David Stephen said his department is currently working with the Office of Institutional Research to determine how first-year CSU, Chico students living on campus compare academically to those living off campus.
“In national studies, over a 30-year period, living on campus consistently supports academic achievement,” he said.
The banquet will take place in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium and feature guest speakers including faculty member Micki Lennon,; assistant residence community coordinators Caylan Clifford and Jeff Harrington; and others. CSU, Chico President Paul Zingg and Vice President for Student Affairs Drew Calandrella are also expected to attend and offer brief remarks.
The honorees, who have been sent personal invitations, will receive engraved glass mugs as recognition of their achievement.
