The Gateway Science Museum at California State University, Chico is now accepting registrations for two sessions of its summer 2013 Gateway Discovery Camp, where children will become “Eco-Kids” and “Eco-Rangers,” practicing environmental stewardship while learning about the Northern California ecosystem and natural resources, sustainability and renewable energy. Camps will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday June 24–28 and July 15–19 at the museum.

The first camp session, “Eco-Kids,” will be held June 24–28 and is geared toward children entering grades four and five. Campers will practice environmental stewardship while doing fun hands-on activities involving solar cooking, renewable energy sources, composting and making art with robots. The cost for this session is $175 with lunches and snacks provided.

“Eco-Rangers” runs July 15–19 and is open to youth entering grades six through eight. “Eco-Rangers” will investigate principles of environmental stewardship by delving deeper into science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), while learning about natural resource management, building wind turbines, robotics programming and more. The cost for this session is $185, and lunches and snacks will be provided.
