Marketing Students Shine at National Conference
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The conference, held each year in New Orleans, attracted 1,234 students from 170 colleges and universities in the United States and other countries. Ten CSU, Chico students attended.
The CSU, Chico AMA chapter won the Best Use of Conference Theme award for the design of its booth at the conference. CSU, Long Beach and Ohio Northern University placed second and third, respectively, in the competition, which included 40 other schools.
The CSU, Chico chapter also won an Outstanding Community Service award for its fundraising efforts this year promoting organ donation.
Professor Ed Meda, chapter adviser, said the CSU, Chico team did extremely well in all competitions, placing third in a group of schools in a business simulation and in the top 20 in a sales competition among 100 schools.
The students who attended the conference were Sheridan Davis, Erin Mellring and Victoria Werking (the exhibit team); Ryan Brown, Taylor Heath and Brendan Totah (business simulation team); and Morgan Ardito, Robert Donovan, Lauren O’Neill and John-Paul Sanchez (sales team).
The CSU, Chico chapter’s winning exhibit, “Haunted Hollywood,” took the AMA conference’s movie theme in a creatively spooky direction. “We put a lot of effort into it,” said Werking, a junior who is chapter president. “We have been working on the exhibit since November and spent part of our spring break on it. We wanted to be different, and everybody loved the whole spooky theme.”
