California State University, Chico’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, will offer free tax-preparation services in partnership with the Internal Revenue Service, starting Feb. 1.

CSU, Chico Selected to Lead CSU in CalFresh Outreach to Reduce Food Insecurity Among Students at 11 Campuses
In an effort to reduce food insecurity among students throughout the California State University system, CSU, Chico’s Center for Healthy Communities (CHC) has partnered with the Office of the Chancellor in a systemwide effort to conduct CalFresh Outreach with students on college campuses. With CHC serving as lead contractor, the CalFresh Outreach program will operate at 11 campuses to develop resources to increase awareness about this important nutrition assistance program, help eligible students apply for CalFresh, and partner with county social service offices to identify and reduce barriers associated with student enrollment.
Elementary School Students Going to the Opera at California State University, Chico
About 1,500 elementary school students from the Chico Unified School District are coming to California State University, Chico to attend a free production of a children’s opera, “The Little Sweep,” on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
CSU, Chico Executive Leadership Institute Prepares California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Leaders for the Future
In partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), CSU, Chico launched an Executive Leadership Institute this week that aims to prepare state corrections executives to be decisive, effective, visionary leaders and champions of change. The Executive Leadership Institute was developed in partnership with Regional & Continuing Education at CSU, Chico and includes four, one-week courses taught over a four-month period.
Hmong Culture Takes Center Stage at New Chico Museum Exhibit
Leaders for a Lifetime, a youth academic outreach program at California State University, Chico, will open the “We Are Hmong: We Are Your Neighbors” exhibit at the Chico Museum on Jan. 15 from 1–5 p.m. While admission to the exhibit is free, Sunday’s opening is a fundraiser to benefit the Chico Museum and Leaders for a Lifetime, and a donation of $5 is requested.
