Food Services Lauded for Healthy and Sustainable Practices

California State University, Chico’s dining services are featured in a GoodHousekeeping.com article rating university and college cafeterias for quality and sustainability.

CSU, Chico, UC Berkeley, Duke, Yale, Oberlin and University of Washington are some of the schools highlighted in “12 of the Most Healthy and Sustainable College Cafeterias.” The article can be found at http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/print-this/home/green-living/greenest-college-cafeterias-4608093.

GoodHousekeeping.com mentioned that the Marketplace Café, located in the BMU, offers local, organic and vegetarian food options. The article also lauds the University Farm’s organic dairy and waste reduction efforts at the dining halls.

In May 2013, Sutter Residential Dining Center won the National Association of College and University Food Service’s 2013 Silver Plate Award for outstanding residential dining among midsized universities. The center is run by the Associated Students Campus Dining Program and University Housing and Food Service.
