Fall 2013 Museum Without Walls Lecture Series Begins Wednesday, Oct. 9

Presentations begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Gateway Science Museum at 625 Esplanade. A donation of $3 per adult is requested. The lectures are free to museum members and students with a valid student ID. See this semester’s full Museum Without Walls lineup below.
The series kicks off this Wednesday, Oct. 9, with “Earthquakes in Our Backyard,” presented by Dr. Peggy Hellweg, operations manager at Berkeley Seismological Lab.
Week two brings us “Earthquake Engineering,” presented by Dr. Curt Haselton, associate professor and chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at California State University, Chico.
The series continues with “Tracking Our Aquifers at a Variety of Scales to Better Understand Our Groundwater System,” jointly presented by Dr. Christina Buck, a water resources scientist with the Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation, and Dr. Todd Greene, associate professor in the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at CSU, Chico.
The series concludes with a presentation on fungi by biologist, naturalist and mycologist Debbie Viess from the Bay Area Mycological Society. Please join us for “A Garden of Mushrooms.”
