Research Symposium Showcases Student Scholarship
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The symposium is an annual celebration that recognizes outstanding student scholarship in the college. This event showcases select undergraduate and graduate students as they present on topics researched in one of their courses or in partnership with one or more BSS faculty member. In addition to orally presented research projects, a series of engaging and interactive displays are presented during a concurrent poster session. Following the symposium, a reception honoring the students and their families and faculty mentors will be hosted from 7 to 8 p.m. in the BMU Auditorium.
A full list of the evening’s presentations will be available the week of April 14.
“This symposium showcases the amazing breadth and depth of scholarship being conducted by our graduate and undergraduate students, providing them the opportunity to develop their professional presentation skills and the opportunity to disseminate their scholarship to a wider audience,” said Eddie Vela, interim dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. “We are quite proud of the work our students are doing in basic and applied research, and in service to their community. In distinguishing themselves, they simultaneously distinguish the college and the University, contributing to the message that CSU, Chico is a university where academic excellence is valued, promoted, and achieved.”
The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences includes the departments of Anthropology, Child Development, Economics, Geography and Planning, Health and Community Services, Multicultural and Gender Studies, Political Science, Psychology, Social Science, Social Work and Sociology.
