Renowned Political Scientist to Speak on Abraham Lincoln

Professor Michael Zuckert, the Nancy Dreux Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, will give a presentation titled “Thinkin’ About Lincoln” on Thursday, May 9, at 2 p.m. in the Harlen Adams Theater on the California State University, Chico campus.

Zuckert is the author or co-author of four books and more than 100 academic articles on a wide range of topics within the history of political thought. He is also the co-author and co-producer of the public radio series “Mr. Adams and Mr. Jefferson: A Nine Part Drama for the Radio.” He was senior scholar for the 1997 “Liberty!” a six-hour public television series on the American Revolution, and served as a senior advisor on the 2006 and 2007 PBS series “Benjamin Franklin” and “Alexander Hamilton.” He is currently head of Notre Dame’s Tocqueville Center for the Study of Religion in American Public Life.

“Michael Zuckert is one of the most thoughtful and accomplished political theorists of his generation,” said CSU, Chico political science professor Alan Gibson. “He promises to give us an illuminating and exciting presentation on Abraham Lincoln and to remind us why Lincoln remains relevant to Americans.”
