When it comes to higher education and value, Money magazine has named California State University, Chico as one of the nation’s “Best Colleges For Your Money 2017.”

Of the more than 2,400 colleges and universities across the country, CSU, Chico was ranked No. 174, according to the magazine’s annual report that came out this week. The ranking represents value in a college or university as it relates to educational quality, cost, and alumni success.

Using data from sources like the U.S. Department of Education, Peterson’s, Payscale.com, and MONEY/College Measures, Money also applied specific methodologies to the rankings. To be considered, colleges and universities had to pass certain criteria such as having at least 500 students and providing sufficient and reliable data to be analyzed.

Megan Odom, director of CSU, Chico’s Career Center, said the CSU, Chico Career Center works diligently to serve all majors with their career and graduate needs and to set them up for success.

“We have a very hands-on approach, having held over 5,500 individual student appointments over the 2016-2017 academic year,” said Odom. “Even though we are a remote campus, employers seek out Chico State graduates for their amazing communications skills, teamwork, work ethic and hands-on experience. We hear time and again how prepared our graduates are for the world of work.”

This year’s ranking marks the third consecutive year CSU, Chico has appeared on Money’s list.

Adam Stoltz, director of the Office of Admissions, said the Money rankings once again reflect CSU, Chico as a best value and a very affordable option for families in California.

“As more families are trying to find quality institutions while staying within their means, Chico State again stands out not only in the state of California but nationally,” Stoltz said. “Our demographics and diversity of our student population match the growing populations of the state.”

The entire report can be found at the Money magazine website.
