California State University, Chico is offering a variety of activities for students throughout Labor Day weekend starting Thursday, Aug. 29.

The Associated Students, CSU, Chico Student Affairs, Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC), University Housing and Food Services, the Wildcat Recreation Center and others have partnered in an effort to provide alternative events and on-campus activities Thursday through Monday, Sept. 2.

The planning for Wildcat Way Weekend, led by CSU, Chico students with faculty, staff and administrative support, is a product of discussions that were initiated with the Call to Action community summit meetings last spring.

“The focus is to engage students and connect them to the campus and each other through safe and fun recreational and social activities planned for the evenings and weekend days during Labor Day,” said Taylor Herren, Associated Students president. “As a campus community, there is an opportunity to re-define what Labor Day weekend means to our University. The events that are planned will give students a chance to showcase what it really means to be a Chico State student and how to lead with the ‘Wildcat Way,’” she said.

Some of the events taking place include a pool party at the Wildcat Recreation Center Friday night, a team competition of various events called Wildcat Challenge Saturday midday and an Epic Proportions Tour concert Saturday night.
