Explore seismology, hydrology, kinematics, the ecology of fungi and much more in the fall exhibit season, opening Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Gateway Science Museum.

The fall lineup is sure to delight visitors of all ages with four new and exciting interactive exhibits:

  • “When the Earth Shakes” explores the geophysical phenomena of earthquakes and comes to us from the Sciencenter in New York.
  • Navigate your way through Northern California on the museum’s new state-of-the-art multitouch table as you investigate our region’s watershed and the industries and communities dependent upon it in the exhibit “Explore Our Region’s Land and Water,” a collaboration with the Butte County Department of Water and Resource Conservation.
  • Challenge your understanding of motion using pendulums, spinners and levers in “Spin, Balance, Rock and Roll,” an interactive exhibit by LaDawn Haws.
  • Unravel the mystery of fungi as you examine the diversity of mushrooms in our region through “Mushrooms: Keys to the Kingdom Fungi,” created by Jennifer Jewell and John Whittlesey.

The Gateway Science Museum is open noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at 625 Esplanade in Chico. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children and students, and free for museum members. For more information, please visit www.gatewayscience.org or call 530-898-4121.
