Mission Statement

The Nutrition and Food Science Association (NFSA) of California State University, Chico prepares students to become advocates of the nutrition profession through opportunities to practice leadership and serve the public by providing optimal nutrition, health, and well-being. NFSA aims to accomplish this mission through participation in university special events, coordinated learning opportunities with other university departments and clubs, and through active service in the community as a whole.

Who might join NFSA?

NFSA club membership is open to any student interested in nutrition, food science, fitness, or other related health issues. Although the officer positions are limited to nutrition majors, nursing students, exercise physiology majors, education majors, and many others find their NFSA experience complements their education goals and helps them build a more well rounded resume.

It's easy to join - just show up!

What does NFSA do?

NFSA activities include participation in university health fairs, tours of local businesses, providing body composition analysis for a fee (this is one of our best fund-raisers), bringing in guest speakers, and other nutrition education presentations. Members finalize our activity calendar early in the academic year. If you have ideas, feel free to come to some meetings!

When does NFSA meet?

NFSA meets twice monthly, every other Tuesday at 6:30 pm in Tehama 106. Last year, we found that evenings seemed to work best for most members. Watch the bulletin boards outside of Tehama 118, and in Holt Hall near the Nutrition & Food Science office for information on our next meeting.

If you can't attend meetings because of class, come participate in this semesters activities. Feel free to email an officer for details.

How will NFSA fit into your busy schedule?

Most students find that networking provides great opportunities to explore career and educational interests. Networking with other like-minded students may actually save time! And, besides - it's FUN!
