Graduate Program

Students in the MS program select one of two options:

1) General Nutrition Science. This option is ideal for students who wish to pursue a doctorate degree in nurition and is aimed at increasing competence in the science of nutrition.

2) Nutrition Education. This option is designed to facilitate nutrition professionals in communicating information and promote optimal health and nutritional status. Students who are interested in applying to the dietetic internship at CSU Chico, must complete this option.

If you are interested in also completing the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) courses (as part of the path of becoming a Registered Dietitian), you may complete the courses as a graduate student concurrently with master’s level courses. If you plan to complete both the DPD and MS courses, please indicate this plan when you apply by filling out and submitting the pre-requisite course clearance form. Completing both DPD and MS courses typically takes 3-3.5 years.
