About the North State Initiative
As California State University, Chico celebrates its 125th year, the University is committed to advancing its role as a regional comprehensive university. Our goal is to strengthen the many educational, cultural, economic, and civic connections we have with our North State neighbors.
University President Paul Zingg launched the North State Initiative, in part, to assess the campus connections that currently exist in the North State area. We reach out to youth, families, businesses, high schools, older adults, and many more. Our aim was to gather this information in one place. The purpose of this website is to increase community awareness about the campus activities that connect the University with our North State neighbors.
“The North State Initiative aims to help the University reaffirm its role in our region and to explore ways in which we can be even more valuable to our neighbors who count on us,” says President Zingg. Our service area counties are Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Colusa, Lassen, Shasta, Trinity, Modoc, Siskiyou, Sutter, Yuba, and Plumas.
