Margaret Owens became the first Associate Dean of the College of Natural Sciences in 2004, after serving three years as chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Recipient of the 1994-95 campus-wide Outstanding Teaching Award, she has been a faculty member at CSU, Chico since 1984. Owens received her bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics at San Jose State University and her doctorate at the University of Oregon. Her areas of interest include number theory, point-set topology, and mathematics education.
