Darcy Hostetter-Lewis, DNP, MSN, RN, PHN, CLE, MICN

Associate Professor in the School of Nursing 

Dr. Hostetter-Lewis, an associate professor of nursing, has been working as a nurse and nurse educator since her graduation from the California State University, Chico Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in May, 2001. She has worked in the areas of inpatient and outpatient maternal-child nursing, pediatric nursing, medical-surgical nursing, and emergency nursing. In addition to her clinical roles she has experience in hospital management and has been employed as the manager of education and Training and as a nursing supervisor at Feather River Hospital in Paradise, California. She graduated from Saint Louis University in 2009, receiving a Master of Science in Nursing- with Distinction in the field of perinatal education. Her time in graduate school spurred an interest in gestational diabetes and she has travelled extensively throughout the United States providing education as to evidence based care of women with diabetes during pregnancy. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2015 from the University of Hawaii, Manoa after successfully completing the first phase of the construction of the Kristina Chesterman Memorial Clinic in Ozu Abam, Nigeria, her scholarly DNP project. The clinic, constructed in honor of Kristina Chesterman, a California State University, Chico nursing student killed by a drunk driver during her second semester as a nursing student, has been fully constructed and will be inaugurated in December 2017, and Dr. Hostetter-Lewis was given the honor of presenting the clinic to the World Congress in Nursing in Melbourne, Australia in July, 2017. Dr. Hostetter-Lewis has been an adjunct member of the California State University, Chico faculty since 2006, and has provided clinical and in-class instruction to students in the areas of nursing fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, nursing research, obstetrical nursing, and pediatric nursing. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she and her husband have lived in Chico since 1984 and have four grown sons who also reside in Chico.
