Paul Herman, DNP, MSN, RNC

Associate Professor in the School of Nursing 

Although new to Chico State’s Nursing faculty as an Associate Professor, Dr. Herman has been in nursing education for many years. This includes student preceptorships, mentoring new nurses, clinical instruction and classroom teaching. Prior to Chico State, he was a Professor of Nursing for the past 3 years at Simpson University, in Redding California, where he was also the Assistant Director of the Nursing program and overseer of the RN to BSN program.

Dr. Herman received his Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State University. His Master’s Degree in Nursing Education was granted from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his Doctorate of Nursing Practice was obtained from Touro University in Henderson, Nevada. Dr. Herman’s nursing career has been centered on Critical Care and Leadership Development. He is passionate about nursing and the development of nursing leaders and educators. Dr. Herman is married and has three grown children with professional careers of their own, and three grandchildren. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys most outdoor activities including skiing and sailing. Both he and his wife enjoy traveling and sightseeing together.

Dr. Herman is excited to be a part of such a dedicated and professional faculty and staff at Chico State and looks forward to working with and getting to know the College of Natural Science’s team.
