Department of Mathematics and Statistics

brianl  meTwo new mathematics education faculty came on board this fall, Brian Lindaman and Mary Elizabeth Mathews.

The provost approved funding to fully remodel our computer lab to outfit it with modern "pods" and large displays to more effectively accommodate collaboration and give us an innovative and striking environment for dissemination and presentation of projects. The lab will be called the Computational Science Center.

The provost has also approved cohort hiring in data mining to jumpstart creating an area of excellence in this field; the Department of Mathematics and Statistics is one of the departments given permission to conduct a search for a new hire next fall. Moreover, this will be at no cost to the college's current salary budget, so this will represent a new faculty line to the college.
