in using our state-of-the-art
facility to
tour the simulation
center to view
the educational
opportunities first
hand!
The Rural Northern California Clinical Simulation Center Partnership
is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art education using
dynamic teaching tools. Through the use of the Clinical Simulation
Center, students and professionals can experience risk-free,
hands-on clinical situations. Examples include mock codes,
intubation procedures, inserting chest tubes, managing critical
care scenarios and numerous other opportunities.
To Schedule time at the RN SimCenter please view the Calendar
and then submit a
reservation request.
The Center is open from 7am to 7pm Monday through Friday. At
this time we cannot accommodate reservations
that require more
than 8 hours per day. Please completely fill out the request
form and include equipment needs.
Instructors
who wish to use
the SimCenter as
an educational resource
should become familiar
with the equipment
and policies for
using the SimCenter
before scheduling
time.
Policies:
- INSTRUCTOR TRAINING: All instructors who plan to use the
high fidelity simulators
should complete
an educational
session to become
familiar with the
use this hi-tech
equipment. If you are unsure if you qualify, please
contact the SimCenter.
- STUDENT CAPACITY: The SimCenter cannot at this
time accommodatemore
than 20 students
at one time. The recommended number of students
at the center to
provide the best
educational outcomes
is 10 students. If you do intend to bring
more than 10 students
we require that
there a ratio of
1 simulation-skilled
instructor for
every 10 students.
- USE OF A DESIGN TEMPLATE: The development of curriculum
and instructional
methods is an ongoing
process to assure
the best practices
and techniques
are employed in
teaching both students
and professionals.
We have received
permission to use
the National League
for Nursing's simulation
template*. Faculty
who wish to plan
educational experiences
should utilize
this template to
create their educational
experiences. The
template and examples
are available by
clicking on the
appropriate link
on the course sidebar.
- EVALUATION: Program and outcome evaluation is an active
part of the curriculum
to assess the programmatic and procedural specific strengths
of using simulation for instruction. All instruction is designed
to encourage the assimilation of concepts and provides the
best scenario for the transfer of skills to real world clinical
situations. Our policy at the SimCenter is that evaluation
is completed for every student,
every time they visit.
You may wish to provide your students with the Visitor Expectations
form so they are
aware of policies
regarding dress,
food and jewelry.
You can also print a map with directions to the SimCenter
by clicking on "location". The SimCenter staff is available to help you plan rewarding
case scenarios and
to assist with the
operation of simulation
center equipment.
