Background
Karin Lightfoot received her BSN from CSU Bakersfield, her MSN from CSU Chico, and is currently enrolled in a PhD program in public health at Walden University. She has worked as a public health nurse for most of her nursing career. She worked at public health departments in Shasta, Tehama, Stanislaus and Kern Counties. As a public health nurse, Karin worked in many roles including regional public health nurse, California Children’s Services case manager, Maternal Child Adolescent Health Coordinator, and Outreach Nurse. Karin’s vast public health experience has included assignments in communicable disease and targeted case management.
Karin also participated in the development and implementation of an infant mental health program which helped identify women experiencing maternal depression and assisted them in accessing treatment services. In addition, she was the SIDS Coordinator for Shasta County. Karin has also worked as a hospital staff nurse in the medical intensive care and obstetrics units, and as a childbirth educator. In addition, Karin served as the school nurse as part of a preschool assessment team, and she worked as a blood donation nurse. She currently volunteers as a Parish Nurse/Faith Community Nurse for her church and serves as a Faith Community Nurse Coordinator.
