Background
Jenny Lillibridge, RN, PhD, is a Professor of Nursing at California State University, Chico, teaching leadership/ management and evidence-based practice to RN-BSN students, and at the graduate level advanced nursing concepts in adult health with an accompanying clinical practicum. I attended CSU, Chico for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, completing doctoral work at Monash University in Australia. Prior to returning to California in fall 2001, I held academic and research positions at several universities in Australia.
I have completed research projects in the areas of nursing health assessment, catheter removal in hospitalized adult patients, the relationship of positioning during surgery and post-operative back pain, substance misuse in the nursing profession, nursing independence in clinical practice, examining the impact of RN-BSN education on the nurse, telemedicine technology to deliver nursing case management services, and exploring the experiences of nurses who act as preceptors for senior nursing students. I also have an ongoing collaboration with a home health care agency on projects about falls by the elderly.
Current research and professional interests include exploration of professional issues in the nursing profession, and quality and patient safety in the context of practice and nursing education. I am currently in the process of developing a program of research about quality and safety that will assist graduate students with thesis work. Professional affiliations include the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau (STTI), the International Honor Society of Nursing. I am the current President of the first virtual chapter in STTI, Phi Gamma.
