Welcome to Chico State!

Congratulations on your admission and welcome to Chico State!

New Student Orientation registration(opens in new window) for incoming students is now open!

REGISTER HERE(opens in new window)

Chico State’s Orientation program is designed to welcome and support you in your transition to the Wildcat community. Make your reservation as soon as possible, as earlier sessions will fill.

We will be with you every step of the way to answer your questions on your journey to be a Wildcat!

It is expected that all students, first-year and transfer students, will participate in Orientation at Chico State University. Academic Advising is mandatory at Chico State and Orientation provides the first opportunity for academic advising and course registration.

Orientation is a three step process.

  • Step 1: Register for Your New Student Orientation Session and a University Advising Workshop.
Register for an Orientation session HERE(opens in new window). Students attend Orientation based on their major.
  • Step 2: Complete University Advising Modules and Workshop Prior to Your Orientation Session.

Attend a University Advising Workshop BEFORE your Orientation session date. Parents/Guardians/Supporters are highly encouraged to attend with you.

    • Complete the University Advising Modules (These are online in our Canvas modules and can be completed at your own pace. Modules will be available June 3)
    • At this virtual, live workshop you will learn about your academic requirements, how to register for classes, and what you need to do in preparation of your Orientation session. Select your date when you register for Orientation. Remember, you must select a date that takes place BEFORE your Orientation date.

    * THIS SESSION DOES NOT REPLACE YOUR SCHEDULED ORIENTATION SESSION. You will enroll in your courses during your Orientation session.

  • Step 3: Attend New Student Orientation

Attend the Orientation session you registered in Step 1.

    • At Orientation, students will:
      • Register for courses
      • Receive academic advising & support with course registration
      • Meet new & current students, faculty, & staff
      • Learn about the vast array of campus resources available
      • Understand campus policies and procedures
      • Successfuly launch their Wildcat experience!

Parents and supporters(opens in new window) are welcome to attend Orientation. Please register for a session with your student.
