Special Summer Exhibition: HO! For Landscapes; The Photography of R.E. Wood from the Meriam Library Special Collections

Time: 10:00 AM

Location: University Art Gallery, Taylor Hall

The University Art Gallery announces a special summer exhibition, developed by Department of Art & Art History graduate student Jennifer Linnea Daly and entitled HO! For Landscapes; The Photography of R.E. Wood from the Meriam Library Special Collections.

The exhibition will run June 25 - July 12, 2007 in the University Art Gallery, located in Taylor Hall at the corner of First and Salem streets. Gallery hours for this exhibition are Monday through Thursday 11am to 4pm. Please note: the gallery will be closed on July 4.

R.E. Wood was an itinerant photographer, writer, inventor, and gentleman farmer, who lived and photographed in Northern California from 1859 until his death in 1925. Ms. Daly discovered an extensive collection of Wood’s original glass plate negatives in Chico State’s Meriam Library Special Collections. Wood photographed throughout northern California with a stereo camera. The modern silver prints, made by Ms. Daly, provide an invaluable insight into the lives and minds of the residents of Northern California in the late 19th century.
