Eileen Macdonald Hosts CSU, Chico Alum Group Show, April 29 through June 2

Location: Humanities Center Gallery, Trinity Hall

Department of Art faculty Eileen Macdonald hosts an eleven-member group show, all alums of SIUC and of various nationalities (American, Canadian, Chinese, Laotian, Scottish, and Vietnamese), who reside within the U.S.: Barb Bondy, Todd Frahm, Mike Geno, Dana Hargrove, Jarrod Houghton, Eileen Macdonald, Graham McDougal, Lara Nguyen, Sisavanh Phouthavong, Jon Swindler. and Xiaohong Zhang.

May 1 Reception 5pm - 7pm.

Carla Resnick: Carcinogenic, April 29 through June 12

The University Art Gallery Presents Works from HIgh School Art Students

Time: 8:00 AM

Location: University Art Gallery

The University Art Gallery presents The Bad Seeds, featuring work by Pleasant Valley High School students enrolled in the Art Studio @ PV, a comprehensive studio and field practice program. The exhibition, the fourth in the gallery’s series of summer high school art exhibitions, reflects the gallery’s ongoing goal to involve the community in its programs and activate the gallery during Chico State’s summer session. It features works in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media.

The exhibition begins June 16 and continues through June 27. A closing reception will take place on Friday, June 27, 6pm - 8pm. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is located in Alva Taylor Hall, California State University Chico. Special gallery hours for this exhibition are: Monday through Thursday, 10am - 3pm.

This exhibition was funded in part by a grant from the High School Initiatives/Career Education program of the California Department of Education.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Training

Location: 8am - 4pm, Performing Arts Center Room 134

Jill S. Compton, PhD, Duke University, will offer training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) on the CSU, Chico campus. The two-day DBT Overview Conference will provide a comprehensive overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Dr. Compton will cover the theoretical foundations of DBT, common clinical strategies, and practical guidelines for effective implementation of DBT with challenging adolescents and adults. The Department of Professional Studies in Education and Butte County Behavioral Health are co-sponsoring the conference as part of the In Service to Families, Children and the Courts Program.
