Sending Messages to Campus Announcements
To: Faculty and Staff
From: Public Affairs and Publications
Campus Announcements is a service for the faculty and staff of California State University, Chico. The e-mail message you receive every work day will include a list of that day’s messages and links to the Campus Announcements Web site. It includes information that you should find useful - campus notices, deadlines, upcoming events, etc. Following is information about preparing and sending messages for Campus Announcements.
Messages must be sent to the Announce mailbox before 11 am of the day you’d like the message to appear in Campus Announcements. The same message may be sent no more than once in the same week.
Criteria for messages in Campus Announcements include the following:
Content must
- comply with the Policy on Use of Computing and Communications Technology (EM 97-18)
- qualify as university-related information/business
- have relevance to a broad base of faculty or staff or students
- be limited to 200 words and include Web links when possible
Content cannot contain
- public debate or personal opinion
- political statements/endorsements or fundraising
For more information, please see Guidelines for Announcements.
Tips for Writing Effective Messages
1. Keep it short.
Give readers essential details and provide a Web page link, e-mail, and phone number for more information.
2. Provide essential information in your subject line.
The subject line “Workshop” isn’t as descriptive as “Retirement Workshop for Staff, Aug. 28.”
3. Avoid overkill.
Repetition is good, but too much can cause readers to tune out. Two messages, spaced about a week apart, are usually enough.
If you have any questions, please call us at x4143.

Resumes and schedules for each finalist, along with access to the survey instrument, will be available at the web site.
