Exemplary Online Instruction Nominations Open until May 2

Many faculty members have applied for the Exemplary Online Instruction award program over the past five years. They have told me that it is a valuable experience to share their course with peers and receive feedback and dialogue about how they teach using online components. The process is rewarding in and of itself.

Our own Rubric for Online Instruction was designed and developed by faculty (and some staff and administrators), and is now used by over 75 other colleges and universities across the country. Think about applying the Rubric for Online Instruction to one of your courses and nominating it by May 2. We are very open to meeting with you in TLP to discuss the process and help you with the nomination. For details, see the web site. For specific questions, contact me, Laura Sederberg, manager of the Technology and Learning Program, by email or by phone x4326.

APRIL 29
Swimming Pool (2003, France/U.K.) 102 min. Directed by Francois Ozon. Introduced by Peter Hogue, emeritus, English.
One of Europe’s most daring and inventive writer-directors, François Ozon, reunites with his two favorite leading ladies, Charlotte Rampling (Under the Sand) and Ludivine Sagnier (8 Women). Sarah Morton (Rampling) is a famous British mystery author. Tired of London and seeking inspiration for her new novel, she accepts an offer from her publisher John Bosload (Charles Dance) to stay at his home in Lubéron, in the South of France. It is the off-season, and Sarah finds that the beautiful country locale and unhurried pace is just the tonic for her—until late one night, when John’s indolent and insouciant French daughter Julie (Sagnier) unexpectedly arrives. Deliciously sophisticated and sexy.*

*Part of the Humanities Center’s year-long theme, “The Book.”
