CSU, Chico Wins Best Practices Award in Student Energy Efficiency
The Green Campus Program at California State University, Chico has won the Best Practices award for Student Energy Efficiency in the California State University, Office of the Chancellor, Energy Efficiency Partnership Program.
Green Campus is a student-run organization with the objective of improving energy efficiency on campus as well as educating students, faculty and staff about energy conservation. Members of Green Campus will accept the award at the UC/CSU/CCC Sustainability Conference at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo at the end of July.
The students involved are excited about winning the award after being edged out by Humboldt State the previous two years, said student Bret Bosma, who has been with Green Campus since it started. “Some of the Chico team plan to roll in to the conference in July in style, on bicycles, in the name of sustainability and energy conservation,” said Bosma.

Jules and Jim (1962, France) 104 min. Directed by Francois Truffaut. Introduced by Laird Easton, History and Humanities Center Board.
Hailed as one of the finest films ever made, legendary director François Truffaut’s early masterpiece charts the relationship between two friends and the object of their mutual obsession over the course of twenty-five years. Jeanne Moreau stars as Catherine, the alluring and willful young woman whose enigmatic smile and passionate nature lure Jules (Oskar Werner) and Jim (Henri Serre) into one of cinema’s most captivating romantic triangles. An exuberant and poignant meditation on freedom, loyalty, and the fortitude of love, Jules and Jim was a worldwide smash upon its release in 1962 and remains as audacious and entrancing today.

Lessons From Greenland, May 4
Mary Anne Donnelly: Lessons From Greenland
The Museum of Anthropology presents Mary Anne Donnelly for a discussion of her
travels to Greenland and her research of the Little Auk bird.
The Little Auk, or Dovekie, currently has about 20 million breeding pairs. While
the Auk population is plentiful for now, the increase in oil spills and climate
change has some researchers fearing for the species’ stability.
Donnelly, a local teacher in Chico, was able to study these interesting birds
through a program called PolarTREC, which combines teachers and researchers in
polar research.
Donnelly will be in Ayers 106 on Sunday, May 4, from 4 to 5 p.m., to discuss her
findings on the Little Auk and the beauty that the seas of Greenland provided.
