Have you learned something new from a child lately?

The Associated Students Child Development Lab invites you to creatively reinforce teaching for your students through assignments involving observation of children in the ASCDL.

The ASCDL is a nationally accredited, state licensed on-campus learning lab. Students can utilize the observation room attached to the preschool classroom. It is equipped with a one-way mirror, microphones to hear children’s conversations, cameras with the ability to record and zoom, capacity for 36 students and a smaller side room used to watch the children in the play yard. Students can also interact one-on-one with children and conduct research in the infant, toddler and preschool rooms. The lab can be used as a one-time experience for your students, or you can use it as part of an entire semester’s curriculum.

Whether you are planning ahead for next semester or want to use the ASCDL as a last minute optional assignment for your students, check us out. Faculty research is also welcome at the ASCDL. Contact Cindy Ratekin or visit our Web site for more information.

Defensive Driver Training

The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that State employees (including student employees) complete Defensive Driver Training every four years in order to drive a State, rental, or privately-owned vehicle on State business. In an effort to meet the needs of the Campus, the Vehicle Reservations Office is offering Defensive Driver Training each week.

Employees can confirm the date of their last training by inquiring at vehicles@csuchico.edu. Responses will typically be by return e-mail on the next business day.

Please have your California Driver License number and expiration date, and CSU, Chico employee/student ID number available at the time of the class.

Location and time varies by session. To view the availability of sessions, location, and to register, log into the Web Based Training (WBT) system and select the Course Catalog menu, the workshops are posted under the EH&S tab. If you need assistance logging into the WBT system, please contact EH&S.

Student Volunteer Meeting for This Way to Sustainability IV Conference

Please let students know:
Interested in being involved in the planning for the This Way to Sustainability IV Conference? The conference planning team is looking for motivated students who want to get involved and help coordinate the conference over the summer months and help out during the Fall 2008 semester. YOU could be involved in fun projects such as organizing the Saturday Student Celebration and Sunday Student Convergence, coordinating student housing, developing the caught you being green program, managing session moderators, assisting with outreach, and more. Fall may seem far away, but your help is needed to ensure these events are as fun and successful as last year.

If you are interested in learning more, mark your calendar for Friday, May 16 at 2pm in BMU 211 for a brief logistics meeting. Contact Jillian Buckholz, jbuckholz@csuchico.edu for details.
