CSU, Chico Retired Staff Luncheon - Did You Miss the Deadline? It's Not Too Late!
If you would like to attend the Annual CSU, Chico Retired Staff Luncheon, but missed the deadline, please call Sharon today. The event will be held this Friday, June 13, from 11:30am - 2pm at Canyon Oaks Country Club.
This is a social event with no planned program—a great opportunity to connect and visit with friends and other CSU, Chico retirees. A delightful buffet meal has been planned. The cost of $18 includes the buffet, drinks, dessert, tax, tip and of course the use of this beautiful facility with lots of parking. Additionally, staff chauffeur service is available from vehicle to clubhouse. Payment will confirm your reservation.
If you have recently retired or will very soon, please contact the Staff Council office, x6156, or Sharon (Schacht) Salcido, 893-0181, for information about this luncheon. We hope to see you there.

Defensive Driver Training Tomorrow
The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that State employees (including student employees) complete Defensive Driver Training every four years in order to drive a State, rental, or privately-owned vehicle on State business. In an effort to meet the needs of the Campus, the Vehicle Reservations Office is offering Defensive Driver Training each week.
Employees can confirm the date of their last training by inquiring at vehicles@csuchico.edu. Reponses will typically be by return e-mail on the next business day.
Please have your California Driver License number and expiration date, and CSU, Chico employee/student ID number available at the time of the class.
Location and time varies by session. To view the availability of sessions, location, and to register, log into the Web Based Training (WBT) system and click on the Course Catalog menu—the workshops are posted under the EH&S tab. If you need assistance logging into the WBT system, please contact EH&S.

Welcome to Medicare Workshops
PASSAGES’ Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) is announcing its first series of free workshops entitled “Welcome to Medicare.” These workshops are targeted specifically to people who are going to be eligible for Medicare, regardless of age, or who have recently enrolled in Medicare.
A two-hour workshop will take place 2pm - 4pm, on Thurs., June 12, and will be repeated on August 7 and October 9. Workshops will be held at the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD), 545 Vallombrosa Avenue, in Chico. Reservations are required by calling 898-6717 or e-mailing tfassieux@csuchico.edu.
The workshop is designed to give people a primer on Medicare, how to supplement Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, when and how to buy a prescription drug plan, and how employer retiree plans work with Medicare.
Changing how one’s health care is covered could have severe financial consequences, and people should not be swayed by aggressive promotions, without thorough research. This is their opportunity to get unbiased information from a trusted agency.
PASSAGES helps older adults and family caregivers with important services to empower them to remain confident in their ability to sustain and enjoy independent lives.
For more information about PASSAGES services go to the Web site. Passages is a project of CSU, Chico Research Foundation.
