Defensive Driver Training

The CSU Vehicle Use Policy requires that State employees (including student employees) complete Defensive Driver Training every four years in order to drive a State, rental, or privately-owned vehicle on State business. In an effort to meet the needs of the Campus, the Vehicle Reservations Office is offering Defensive Driver Training each week.

Employees can confirm the date of their last training by inquiring at vehicles@csuchico.edu . Reponses will typically be by return e-mail on the next business day.

Please have your California Driver License number and expiration date, and CSU, Chico employee/student ID number available at the time of the class.

Location and time varies by session. To view the availability of sessions, location, and to register, log into the Web Based Training (WBT) system and click on the Course Catalog menu—the workshops are posted under the EH&S tab. If you need assistance logging into the WBT system, please contact EH&S at ehstrainer@csuchico.edu .

Humanities Center Gallery in August: Dylan Tellesen, "You Are What You Eat"

Now through August 28

You Are What You Eat
Dylan Tellesen
Gallery hours: M-F 8-5
Humanities Center Gallery
Trinity Hall, CSU Chico

Thursday, August 28, Closing Night Reception, 5-7pm

Dylan Tellesen writes that he “is an artist, adoring husband, father of two little crazies, skinny dipper, Butte College teacher, organic matter eater, sexy dancer, and walker of the earth, who knows he is going to die. He also studied artmaking at L’Accademia di Belli Arte in Florence, Italy, and San Francisco State University. He currently exhibits his art in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, and his hometown of Chico, where he recently completed an enormous exterior mural at the local Boys and Girls Club.

In this show, Tellesen creates a parallel universe where the effects of human waste on the natural world have unexpectedly beautiful and often terrifying results. Evolution gone awry, e-waste habitat, and misconstrued adages combine to reinterpret our future and give us pause to reflect on our own.” Check out http://dtellesen.blogspot.com/ and http://www.dtellesen.com/.

The Humanities Center Gallery is located in Trinity Hall. A closing night reception will be held Thurs., Aug. 28, 5pm - 7pm. For information, call 898-4642.

University Film Series: MadCat Women's Int'l Film Fest, Sept. 2

University Film Series
Tuesdays at 7:30pm
Little Theatre (Ayres 106)
$3 donation appreciated
898-4642

Sept. 2, 2008

MadCat Women’s International Film Festival ID Docs (2005-2006, Lithuania, Croatia, Australia, Germany, U.S.A., Belgium, Austria) about 102 min. Curated by Ariella Ben-Dov.

This is the second visit of MadCat to the University Film Series. First, it was based in San Francisco. Now, it hails from Brooklyn (what doesn’t these days?). Tonight’s program will include seven films: the longest is thirty minutes; the shortest is one.

Identity cannot be reduced to stats on a badge. It is both personal and public, elusive and fixed. Using a patient camera and lyrical imagery, these filmmakers gently probe how society, biology, place, and even appliances play a role in who we are and how we think of ourselves and others. — Ben-Dov

CORRECTION: Invitation to Volunteer at the Parent's Farewell Breakfast, Aug. 23

As a part of the Fall 2008 Getting Connected program, the Getting Connected Committee and the office of Alumni and Parent Relations would like to officially invite you to volunteer at the Parent’s Farewell Breakfast, Sat., Aug. 23 from 8:30am to 11am at the Warrens Reception Center. This is the seventh time this event has been offered to help provide closure and signify the culmination of Getting Connected events for parents. This event has grown from 100 attendees the first year, to more than 400 last year. We again anticipate an attendance of 400 parents and students at this year’s event, and would love to have a great showing of campus representatives available to help parents with the process of letting go. Duties include speaking to parents about the Chico experience and being available for questions.

Continental breakfast and coffee will be provided. If you are able to volunteer please contact the office of Alumni and Parent Relations at alumni@csuchico.edu or at x6472.
