University Film Series: EDVARD MUNCH, Part II (1974, Norway); Aug. 26
University Film Series
Tuesdays at 7:30pm
Ayres 106
$3 donation appreciated
AUG. 26
Edvard Munch, Part II (1974, Norway) about 110 min. Directed by Peter Watkins for television.
Following a rough chronology from 1884 to 1894, when Norwegian artist Edvard Munch began expressionism and established himself as northern Europe’s most maligned and controversial artist, the film also flashes back to the death from consumption of his mother, when he was five, his sister’s death, and his near death at 13 from pulmonary disease. The film finds enduring significance in Munch’s brief affair with “Mrs. Heiberg” and his participation in the cafĂ© society of anarchist Hans Jaeger in Christiania and later in Berlin with Strindberg. Through it all comes Munch’s melancholy and his desire to render on canvas, cardboard, paper, stone, and wood his innermost feelings. With Peter Watkins, Eli Ryg, Geir Westby, Gro Fraas, Knut Khristiansen. (Please note: we showed Part I January 2008.)

Mission IMPROVable Comedy Team, TONIGHT
The agents of MISSION IMPROVable Comedy Team are just a few audience suggestions away from creating a brand new and original production that’s all about whatever you tell them.
This fast-paced and exciting new form of comedy is a combination of MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out” and “Who’s Line is it Anyway?” - but there is a bit of a twist. Just like in the old TV series “Mission Impossible,” the Chicagoan actors in Mission IMPROVable pretend to be agents.
The audience members are the co-agents and participate in the hilarious theater games or “missions” by yelling out suggestions. The on-the-spot randomness provided by the audience makes each mission truly unique and very often hysterical. This new improvisational comedy troupe, Mission IMPROVable, is infectious and hot. MI is a regular at festivals and colleges across the country with a show that will leave you with a smile on your face and your stomach aching from laughter.
Mission IMPROVable was nominated for Comedian of the Year 2008 and Best Major Performance 2008 by Campus Activities Magazine.
Mission IMPROVable will be performing in BMU-Common Grounds on Monday, Aug. 25 at 9pm. The event is free. This performance is not recommended for anyone under the age of 17.
