Banner Printing Offered
Low-Cost Banner Printing Available at the Library Copy Center
Need to print a large color banner for a special event, celebrate a birthday, anniversary, retirement, or graduation? The Rapid Graphics Copy Center on the second floor of the library has just the solution. Color banners can be printed up to 11.5” × 47” on white index stock paper for only $10. We can also copy black and white posters and banners on colored board from an 8.5” × 11” original. To preserve your banner or poster, you can also have it laminated on our roll laminator. 2009 Chico Poster Calendar Available
The poster-sized calendar created each year by Academic Technologies features a color photo of the new Student Services Center. This 17” × 23” wall calendar, with a photo by Jeff Teeter, is great for a gift or an addition to your office.
Calendars are available at the library copy center (Rapid Graphics) MLIB 204, Presentation Graphics Lab MLIB 010, AS Bookstore, or we’ll deliver to your department office!

Library Changes
First Floor - Circulation is now called Circulation & Reserve - Phone 6501
Reserve collection has been combined with Circulation. Materials placed on Reserve will be accepted at the “short” Circulation counter. Books, non-print and paper reserve materials may be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
Limited Loan area has been converted to the Laptop Lounge. Most seats have access to electrical plugs.
Second Floor - Periodical Reading Room is now called Media & Microforms - Phone 5267
Non-Print Media collection (DVD’s, CD’s, video & audiotapes) have moved to the second floor. Playback equipment has moved to the same location. All media materials are open access and the circulation period is now the same as other circulating materials.
Microforms have moved into this area with readers and printers.
Daily Newspapers remain in this area.
Current Periodicals have been integrated into the Periodicals Stacks with the bound volumes.
Fourth Floor - Student Learning Center is now located in Student Services Center Room 340.

Writing Tutors now available in the Student Learning Center (SLC)
The Writing Center, formerly housed in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, is now an integrated component of the Student Learning Center (located in the Student Services Center room 340). Students can begin to make appointments on Wed., Sept. 3 by coming to the SLC. Appointments can only be made in person and will start on Mon., Sept. 8.

Construction of Sutter Residence Hall + Dining Center is Underway
Campus members are encouraged to fully acknowledge the boundaries of the construction site, vehicular traffic serving the site, and the direction of construction managers responsible for controlling the site as conditions warrant. Safety is extremely important to all involved.
Please note, for the duration of the construction period pedestrian traffic along Legion Avenue has been redirected to the north sidewalk, as the south sidewalk has been removed adjacent to the construction site.
The project is estimated to be completed summer 2010.

BMU 3rd Floor Gallery Reception Tonight
Please join us for a reception as the BMU 3rd Third Floor Gallery presents Love, Passion and
Nature by painter Ellen Heise. This series reflects Ellen’s memory of her culture, traditions and
love of natural elements and will be up through Sept. 15.

Come and Enjoy FREE Crafts for Kids at the Chico World Music Festival
The Museum of Anthropology will be hosting a FREE “Crafts for Kids” booth under the magnolia tree in front of Laxson Auditorium during the 15th annual Chico World Music Festival on Sat., Sept. 20 and Sun., Sept. 21 on the CSU, Chico campus. Kids will have fun and be entertained at craft stations like “People of the World Art,” “Dinosaurs, Reptiles and Birds - Oh My!” and “Celebrating and Sustaining Our Planet.” Other FREE daytime activities run from 11am to 4pm on both days and include live music, student art displays, art classes and crafts for kids.

Oscar Winner for Best Foreign Language Film; stars Javier Bardem, Oscar Winner for Best Supporting Actor (as Chigurh in No Country for Old Men); most awarded Spanish movie at the Goya Awards, winning 14 of the 15 awards for which it was nominated. Based on the true story of Spaniard Ramon Sampedro, who fought a 30-year campaign to win the right to end his life with dignity. Film explores Ramon’s relationships with two women: Julia, a lawyer who supports his cause, and Rosa, a local woman who wants to convince him that life is worth living.

Trina Kleist was an AP Reporter in Mexico for eight years where she covered the Zapatista indigenous rebellion in the southern state of Chiapas and met the mysterious and flirtatious Subcomandante Marcos. She now lives in Grass Valley, where she has a real job as city editor of The Union daily newspaper.
The International Forum is at 5pm, Holt Hall 170. The public is invited.

Salvador Santana THIS Thursday
Salvador Santana Brings the Tradition On to CSU, Chico
AS Presents is proud to present Salvador Santana in the BMU Auditorium on Thurs., Sept. 4, 2008. Doors open at 7:30pm. The performance will begin at 8pm.
Deriving from the Northern California area, Salvador Santana has been a part of the music scene thanks to the highly acclaimed success of his father, Carlos Santana. The legendary guitarist’s son is making a name for himself with the Salvador Santana band, which blends the elements of Latin, hip-hop, funk, and R&B into one unique sound. This Grammy award winning artist shows high promise, with the talent and originality living up to the family name.
Tickets are available at the University Box Office on 2nd and Normal. Students with CSU, Chico ID are $10, General Admission is $15. General admission patrons without CSU, Chico ID must be 18 and over. Ticket prices will increase $3 at the door.

Come Join a Three Cups of Tea Reading Group
On Sept. 23 in Common Grounds (inside the BMU), please join us for the formation of campus & community reading groups focused on this year’s Book in Common, Greg Mortenson’s Three Cups of Tea. This gathering is designed to bring together students, staff, faculty, and interested community members for mixed reading groups that will meet twice in the fall (in October and in November) at times and places that work for the group members. We are asking that groups meet one more time, in the spring, just before or just after Greg Mortenson’s campus visit. Reading group members are eligible to win tickets for Mortenson’s talk on April 21 in Laxson Hall (this event is already completely booked).

CELT Conference: Intellectual Engagement In and Out of the Classroom - Oct. 8-10
CSU, Chico Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is pleased to announce the 14th Annual CELT Conference on Learning and Teaching. This year’s theme is Intellectual Engagement In and Out of the Classroom.

We will kick off the CELT Conference with a luncheon and awards ceremony, Oct. 8, 11:30am in the BMU Auditorium. Sessions will continue Wed. afternoon, Thurs., Oct. 9 and Friday, Oct. 10 throughout campus.
