CAL Funding for Visiting Scholars/artists

To: The Campus Community
From: Sarah Pike, Chair, Committee on Arts and Lectures

The Committee on Arts and Lectures solicits proposals to bring guest lecturers, performers, and artists to campus. We wish to empower students and faculty to create small, mobile learning environments, in the company of guests of their own choosing, and we encourage them to move across departmental boundaries in the process. The Committee seeks proposals in the $500 to $1500 range, and while these awards are small, they should be sufficient to entice that young scholar you saw at that conference last summer to visit our campus to share their ideas with a small group of us. Because the funds are limited, it will often be necessary for the host department to also provide resources. The Committee is currently soliciting proposals for the 2008/09 academic year.

Any questions, e-mail the Chair at spike@csuchico.edu or call x-6341. We will begin reviewing proposals this month and funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
