University Hosts All Majors Career and Internship Fair

The Chico State Career Center will host its fall All Majors Career and Internship Fair, Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the BMU Auditorium.

Attendees such as Auberge Resorts, Federated Mutual Insurance, Lam Research, Systron Donner Automotive and Enloe Medical Center will have contact with a variety of students from across campus seeking internships and full-time positions.

“Career Fairs at Chico State continue to be strong, even in light of the current challenging economic times,” said Career Center Director Jamie Starmer. “Students continue to make significant professional contacts at our career fairs, which directly lead to professional jobs and internships.”

Sacramento Semester Spring 2009 applications due Nov. 7, 2008. Please tell your students about this great opportunity.

The Sacramento Semester program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to experience California government and politics and gain on-the-job experience in politics and policy by doing an internship and taking seminars for a total of 12 upper-division units. All majors are encouraged to apply. Scholarships available from both Sacramento State and CSU, Chico.

Join Chico Performances in a Science Adventure, Mad Science Presents: CSI Live! - Nov. 9

Get ready to be amused and entertained by Mad Science Presents: CSI Live! at Laxson Auditorium on Nov. 9, 2008 at 2pm. The performance is a fun opportunity for all ages to participate in a thrilling science adventure, full of special effects, gripping suspense and mystery.

A crime has been committed, and it’s up to the crew from Mad Science CSI: Live! and a few hundred audience witnesses to solve it. With the help of crime-fighting technology and special effects, the CSI: Live! investigators and their trusty audience assistants smash watermelons with a bat, launch paint, and fire laser beams — all in the name of solving the crime with scientific theories. With tons of audience interaction, cool technology, thrilling special effects, and a special visit by CSI agent Gus Grissom, this adventure is sure to entertain and educate. Great for families.

Tickets are $15 adult, $13 senior, and $10 student/child and are available at the University Box Office, 2nd and Normal streets, 898-6333.

International Forum: "Iran's Revolution Generation," Nov. 4

Saied Safadoost will discuss “Iran’s Revolution Generation” in the International Forum on Nov. 4, 5pm - 6pm. Young people growing up in Iran since the 1979 Revolution and the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war have only known life under the Islamic Republic. Saeid Safadoost offers a first-hand account of the life of youth and young adults in Iran, focusing on education, employment, self-identify, and social connections. He has a BA degree in Political Science from Iran, and Strategic Studies from India.

The International Forum is a weekly lecture series held in Holt 170 on the CSU, Chico Campus. The public is welcome. For more information, please contact Tony Waters, 898-4145.

• The basics of copyright and some common misconceptions about copyright law
• The big differences in copyright law when you teach in a face-to-face classroom vs. teaching online; the differences between Sections 110(1), and Section 110(2) of copyright law.
• Fair Use exemption
• Public Domain materials
• Most electronic sources are indeed copyrighted material (not public domain).
• Copyrighted material in a master’s thesis
• The campus’ use of Turnitin for reviewing master’s theses and projects’ content.
