End of Year Donations to CSU, Chico
As the end of the year approaches, many CSU, Chico supporters will want to make gifts to the University. While the campus is officially closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 2, University Advancement staff will be on campus during the closure to accept and process gifts.
You can help us ensure that donors giving by cash, check, or credit card are credited with their 2008 tax-deductible gift in the following ways:
1. Direct donors to University Advancement’s secure online giving site. Donors can use their credit cards to make a gift that will be processed immediately.
2. Deliver any gifts received during the month of December directly to Sapp Hall, zip 155 for immediate processing.
3. Donors may mail their gift directly to: The University Foundation, CSU, Chico, 95929-0155 to ensure they are postmarked by December 31.
4. Deliver any December gifts received after January 2 to Cashiering as soon as possible the week of January 5 to ensure proper credit.
For process details and deadlines related to gifts of securities, please contact Gary Salberg at extension 5959. Submit signed gift-in-kind forms to University Advancement at zip 155 by Jan. 9, 2009, in order to be counted for 2008.
Please call University Advancement at extension 5297 if you have any questions regarding end-of-year donations, processes, or issues.

Give the Gift of Honoring a Friend...,
… a spouse, a sweetheart or the memory of a cherished pet by making a small monetary donation to Friends of Animals. This year we were able to donate $100 each to seven local animal charities because of our successful fund raising efforts. Think of your gift as a virtual stocking stuffer. It’s very simple. Just tell the one you love you made a donation in their honor to FOA. Send your contribution to Terryl Murphy, Zip 705, and Happy Holidays!

University Housing Top Chef: Honors Program Receives National Recognition
The Department of University Housing & Food Service residence hall program board, Prime Time Productions [PTP], was awarded the National Social Program for October 2008 by the National Association of College & University Residence Halls (NACURH). NACURH is the largest student-run organization in North America and serves institutional members and residence hall students globally.
PTP received the national award for “Top Chef: Honors.” The program format featured 2-person teams of Konkow House residents competing for the “Top Chef” title. Structured like many highly regarded “Food Network” television programs, each team was armed with a box of ingredients with limited time to prepare their meals. The teams were challenged with a new theme each week to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. At the end of each competition round, one team was eliminated.
A “guest judge” was invited to each competition to select the winning team. Guest judges included Joe Symmes, executive chef of Johnnie’s Restaurant - Chico; Christian Steinbach, owner of Christian Michaels Ristorante - Chico; and for the final showdown, Erik “The Pirate Chef” Hopfinger, a contestant on the Food Network’s “Top Chef Season 4,” was invited to help choose the ultimate winning team. Hopfinger presented the grand prize winners with two $100 dollar gift cards to his restaurant, Circa, in San Francisco.

Sustainable Consultations Available for Campus Offices (SCOOP)
To all staff and faculty members,
I just wanted to remind all staff and faculty members about our sustainable consultation program here at Chico State. SCOOP stands for sustainable consultation of office practices. It is an opportunity for our campus offices to learn and take charge in new “sustainability” techniques to start saving money and energy. The process consists of student consultants taking a walk through the office and then providing recommendations for the office. The goal is to generate savings for the office and help your office become more sustainable in your everyday routines.
The consultation is free all you have to do is contact the SCOOP office or they can be reached at extension 4335.
Our consultations will begin again in Spring Semester so hurry up and get your appointment set up today!
Thank you for your time,
The members of SCOOP!
