20th Annual Staff & Faculty Art Exhibit & Auction
Staff Council invites everyone to come and view the 20th Annual Staff & Faculty Art Exhibit now on display in Kendall Hall on the first floor through May 22. For the first time, we have 12 pieces up for auction, thanks to our great faculty & staff who have donated their art. The 12 pieces of art are labeled with their auction item number, and the bidding book is located in the rotunda area. The bidding starts on April 8 and ends on May 6 at 1pm, and is open to anyone who is interested.
A reception for the artists will be held on Wed., April 15 from 4pm - 5:30pm in Kendall Hall rotunda area. If you have any questions please contact Dana Francis at 898-4723.

Join the Marcus Roberts Trio in Honoring Jazz Music in Laxson Auditorium, April 11
Come see the Marcus Roberts Trio pay tribute to some of Jazz’s greatest legends in their performance In the Footsteps of Giants on April 11 at 7:30pm in Laxson Auditorium, courtesy of Chico Performances.
In this program, entitled In the Footsteps of Giants, The Marcus Roberts Trio will celebrate the contributions of several great jazz bandleaders. The trio will introduce their new arrangements of works by jazz giants Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, and more.
Tickets are: $18 Adult | $16 Senior | $14 Student/Child and are available at the University Box Office, 898-6333.

In addition to celebrating our alumni we will also be celebrating the 125th Birthday of Ella Caroline Sapp Hall. Free Centennial Organ recital, TODAY
This afternoon at 5pm Jeffrey Cooper will present his Senior Recital on the University Centennial Organ on the stage of the Harlen Adams Theatre (PAC 144). Mr. Cooper’s program will include music of: J. S. Bach, Ralph Vaughan Williams, C. V. Stanford and Olivier Messiaen.
He will be joined by the University Chamber Singers, Dr. David Scholz, director, to present some rarely heard English Sacred Chorale Music. Admission is free.

The Museum of the Mind, April 22

The Museum of the Mind (we call it MOM) is a collection of interactive displays designed to bring selected topics in the field of Cognitive Psychology to life. Each topic display will include some kind of interaction, so these are engaging presentations, inviting you to participate and experience the psychological phenomena for yourself. Students in PSYC 334 — Cognition have collaborated on the development of these projects for the last 2 months, and the outcome should be interesting and informative.
Everyone is invited to come, for either a couple of minutes, the full duration, or anything in-between. There will also be coffee, tea, and (hopefully) homemade baked goods.

A variety of successful local business owners, community leaders, and respected academics will share their experiences in world of leadership and their journey to success. This day-long conference is an opportunity for CSU, Chico students to learn, listen, engage, and discuss insights to student leadership. Through workshops, panels, and energizing discussion groups, our goal is to equip you with knowledge, inspiration and motivation to maximize your potential and lead successfully.
To participate, come by the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center and pick-up an application (Meriam Library 172, across from the BMU Marketplace). Submit the completed application form and conference fee to the Cross-Cultural Leadership Center by Monday, April 20.
Conference fee includes: Continental breakfast, lunch provided by the Madison Bear Garden and all conference materials.

Phi Kappa Phi Initiation and Medallion Ceremony, May 4
The California State University, Chico chapter of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society is pleased to announce that its annual Initiation and Medallion Ceremony will be held on Mon., May 4, 2009 from 3:30pm - 5pm in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium. New members will be inducted into the society and the Dorthea Powers Scholarship will be awarded. Honors will be presented by college deans, chapter officers and other university representatives. Department chairs, academic advisors, staff and faculty, family members and friends are encouraged to attend. Email Carolyn if you have questions.
