McPartland Student AMA Chapter Wins Outstanding Chapter Award at National Conference Nine California State University, Chico student leaders from the American Marketing Association student organization participated in several competitions at the national 2006 AMA conference in Orlando, Fla., in March. They came home with an "Outstanding Chapter" award for the conference. The AMA students participated in the trade show booth competition, where 40 schools create a trade show to communicate information about their student organization, linking to the conference theme, "Take a Kwik Trip to Marketing Success." The students planned, created and built a 10 X 10 booth with prizes, information and tools to draw interest to the booth. Throughout the first day of the conference, the booths were judged by marketing industry executives and AMA corporate employees on the criteria of best connection with the conference theme, most interactive and best communication of chapter performance. The CSU, Chico AMA booth won first place for communication of chapter performance. At the awards banquet on the last night of the conference, CSU, Chico AMA was singled out for their professionalism and high-quality projects, said Professor Matt Meuter, adviser to the student group. The group's presentation on their alcohol and drug awareness program was highlighted and used as an example of the great things AMA groups can do in their community. The culminating event of the evening was the announcement of Outstanding Chapters for the 2006 conference. CSU, Chico AMA won one of the awards, the first in its history of attending the AMA conference. Kristin
